Made from 100% old vine Areni grapes grown in Vayots Dzor Provence, Arag is fermented in clay amphora, racked and aged an additional 8 months in amphora. This the first vintage made by the Armenian/Italian owned Rikars Vineyards.
This medium bodied red wine is layered and needs time in the glass to open up. As it does, floral elements emerge as do cherry and pomegranate flavors. A rich, complex Areni that shows how Armenia’s ancient winemaking methods can be deployed to make a delicious modern wine.
